Maia Vimboule is a native of Latvia and a graduate of St. Petersburg Conservatory, Russia.

She has also received her Master of Arts degree from the University of Waterloo. Ms. Vimboule has extensive experience as a pianist, choir master and musical director.

Since her move to Canada in 1991, she has been a vocal coach and collaborative pianist at Wilfrid Laurier University for 10 years. Many of her students are first prize winners in local and provincial competitions. As a musical director, her credits include more than 20 full time productions performed in Latvia and Canada.

 Among the latest projects are Handel's "Messiah" Easter Part, Christmas Baroque Recital at the Stocky Centre, Haydn's "The Creation" and "Viva Opera", "Opera Gala", Music of the Spheres" and "Spring Fantasy". In the fall of 2006 she produced Henry Purcell's opera "Dido & Aeneas" which gathered more than 70 performers from Parry Sound, Midland, Toronto and Kitchener-Waterloo.

In 2002 Ms. Vimboule became a resident of Parry Sound where in 2004 she established the Parry Sound School of Music. Many of local talents received their training in both voice and piano and were involved in music school productions.

In May of 2011 Ms. Vimboule went to Rome, Italy, where her student Gordon Mok received 2nd prize at Mozart International Piano Competition. In 2013 Gordon received Senior Top Award at Sudbury Kiwanis Festival and in 2014 was a winner of Senior Rose Bowl at Barrie Kiwanis Festival. Her former vocal student Celine Cascanette enjoys studying at McGill University Vocal Performance Faculty.

Currently Ms. Vimboule resides in Barrie where she has a music studio called Orpheus.
